Questions from Genesis Chapter 5
How many generations did Adam see
of his seed? Answer –
simple calculations it seems to me that Adam died sometime during
the time of Lamech and before Noah was born. It still is amazing
that Adam probably saw his seed into the eighth generation. So, that
would be Seth, Enos, Cainan, Mahaleel, Jared, Enoch, Methusaleh, and
Lamech. Adam died before the Lord pronounced destruction on the
world as far as I can see.
Who lived the longest during
these times? Answer –
The Bible tells us that
Methuselah lived 969 years, which was more that even Adam who lived
930 years or Jared 962 years.
What actually happened to Enoch?
– The Bible is clear that Enoch walked with God
and that God took him. I believe he was simply raptured up into
heaven. His life must have been so pleasing to God that God didn’t
allow him to go the way of all men and brought him straight to
heaven. Someday some group of believers will experience the same
thing Enoch did and go straight to heaven avoiding physical death.
What was Lamech saying about his
son Noah in verse 29? Answer –
name means rest. Could it be that there was some hope in the future
that there would be some change in the hard work that they had to do
because of the curse? Were there possibly prophecies about someone
to come and be a special tool in God’s hand?
